Unless the stars align in a very fortuitous way, your first time is likely to be a bit awkward. But with the Guyliner's advice and points to consider, you'll have the best version of a formative experience. Driving lessons, cooking a meal, karaoke — practice makes perfect.
The hormones that surge through your body when you have sex can sometimes cause strong emotions afterwards. Some people believe in the concept of virginity. However, the traditional definition of virginity, which is the first time a person has penetrative penis-vagina intercourse, leaves out a lot of other types of sex, including oral sex and anal sex.
Your first time having sex can be the subject of a lot of excitement, but it can also carry feelings of fear or anxiety. Mostly, though, it's hard to imagine what it will actually be like when it happens. For many of us, the only conception we have of our first time is what we see in the movies, but those portrayals don't very often get it right — especially when it comes to the first time.

In order to help debunk some of the harmful and confusing myths around the subject, we spoke to a variety of sex experts, psychologists and regular people about what losing your virginity means, and how to go about getting it done the right way. The concept of losing your virginity is not as simple as many people make it out to be. Traditionally, losing your virginity has meant engaging in penetrative sexual intercourse, whether penis-in-vagina or penis-in-anus. However, not everyone sees it as that.
Of course there are those who will lose it before then and those who will lose it later on, but the majority of people lose their virginity in their teens, with only five percent of both men and women, between the ages of 25 and 29, still being virgins in that age bracket. That percentage continues to drop with age, and by the time people have reached 40, the percentage of those who are still virgins between 40 and 44 is a very minute 0. But whether you lose your virginity at 15 or lose it at 35, there are fun and hard truths that come with it, and here are seven of them.
There is no one definition of virginity. Others may define virginity as never engaging in vaginal penetration with a penis, despite having had other types of sex, including oral stimulation and anal penetration. Some people may no longer call themselves a virgin after engaging in anal penetration or penetration with a finger or sex toy. Others may reconsider their virginity status after receiving or giving oral stimulation.
